The Light of the World
The person of the Lord Jesus is obscured; Christianity is being confronted by Christ; no hope for the world apart from the Gospel; the effect of Darwinism; man always puts his faith in his own philosophies and wisdom; facing the claims of Jesus.
The Only Light
What is the problem with the world? the mark of modernity : 'there is no God'; learning from Nicodemus and Job; what does Jesus reveal of God?
Children of the Light
The only understanding of man is through Jesus Christ; modern man's view of man; man is a living soul; born into a state of sin.
The Need of Man Revealed
Man's essential need not understood by the world; what are the needs of man? Not rules and regulations; but a personal relationship with God; the Law and prophets not enough; how can God forgive man? Jesus; the only answer.
A Life of Darkness
The darkness outside and inside; the life of darkness examined; a darkness that covers the world; how can man change? a new principle of life.
Who Art Thou?
Who art thou? The credentials of Christ; God bears witness to His son; Jesus' attitude to death; 'if I be lifted up '; the purpose of His death.
Man and His Unbelief
Therefore'; the causes of unbelief examined; unbelief rooted in the nature of man; attitude and approach is important; man; by reason; creates his own god.
The Death of Christ
The meaning of this verse explained; Jesus prophesies His own death; the Son of man; the promise of the Father has arrived; power released by His death; in His death he reveals himself.
Do You Know God?
Why should man want to know God? man restless for God; the only way to a knowledge of God; Christianity is exclusive; the suffering of Christ absolutely essential.
Two Ways of Dying
'I go my way; and ye shall seek me and shall die in your sins …'; The reactions to Christ's statement; not wanting to think about death; only two ways of dying; dying in sin; dying in the Lord; 'For to me … to die is gain.'
