Who Gave Himself for Our Sins
A Sermon on Galatians 1:3-5
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (ESV)
When the world looks particularly bad to us, we begin to worry and become fearful. But that is contrary to what God would have us do. In this sermon exploring Galatians 1:3-5, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones reminds us that the world is already doomed to death and destruction, but we do not need to die with it! God gave us his Son to bear the entire weight of God’s curse of sin from his final wrath and destruction of the world. When we consider the poor condition of everything around us, we should not focus on how to change the world but how to change our hearts. God provides a perfect way for us to be saved from all that is around us—he gave his beloved Son to die in our place. Trust in that Savior! Whoever believes that the Son of God was made a curse for them is delivered from the curse!
