A Sermon on Ephesians 6:10-13Read more
Why is it important to have a biblical understanding of man? Many people both in and outside of the Church have a flawed view of man that either overemphasis his spiritual nature at the expense of his physical nature, or vice versa. They downplay the need for spirituality and replace it with modern psychology. Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones says that the Bible teaches us that man is body, mind, and soul. He is more than the matter that he is made of, but man’s body also affects his spirit. The is a great danger to turn all sin issues into problems of psychology. They say that man’s problems are never a result of his sin but are a result of his circumstances. The Bible tells us something different, for according to the Bible man is sinful and willingly rebellious. He has rejected God. The answer is in the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the redemption of sins. This does not mean that all problems are the result of sin, but it does mean that all problems find their ultimate answer in the Gospel. This sermon from Ephesians 6:10-13 points us all to the glorious truth Jesus is a sufficient Savior.

The Armor of God
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Ephesians 6:10-13, King James Version
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
About Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981) was a Welsh evangelical minister who preached and taught in the Reformed tradition. His principal ministry was at Westminster Chapel, in central London, from 1939-1968, where he delivered multi-year expositions on books of the bible such as Romans, Ephesians and the Gospel of John. In addition to the MLJ Trust’s collection of 1,600 of these sermons in audio format, most of these great sermon series are available in book form (including a 14 volume collection of the Romans sermons), as are other series such as "Spiritual Depression", "Studies in the Sermon on the Mount" and "Great Biblical Doctrines". He is considered by many evangelical leaders today to be an authority on biblical truth and the sufficiency of Scripture.
